Twin sisters Ambra and Fiona Albek have been playing music together since their early childhood and have maintained this strong musical bond even when their education has temporarily followed different directions.

Ambra was taught by Alberto Lysy and graduated with honors under the guidance of Igor Karsko in Lugano/Switzerland, followed by performance studies in Rudolf Koelman's violin class and Wendy Champney's viola class at the Musikhochschule in Zürich. She graduated with a Concert Diploma summa cum laude. Following her main interest in chamber music, Ambra attended other Master courses with Nora Chastain, Friedemann Rieger and the Carmina Quartet in Zurich.

Fiona was taught by Nora Doallo in Lugano graduating with honors; she continued her studies at the Musikhochschule Zürich in Friedemann Rieger's piano chamber music and Lieder performance classes. She graduated with top marks and distinction as a piano chamber musician and accompanist of lyric singers.

As a Duo they attended Prof. Narciso Masi's chamber music classes at the International Piano Academy in Imola, Italy, successfully graduating with Masters' Degrees.

Ambra and Fiona have also been active participants in Master classes held by Peter Rybar, Emanuel Hurwitz in London (violin), Sergio Fiorentino, Paul Badura Skoda and Friedemann Rieger (piano).

They have taken part in various music festivals and cultural events in Switzerland, in various european countries, Latin America, USA , China and Australia (Sydney). TV documentaries have been made in Switzerland and abroad about their musical activities. Their discography: CD "South of the Alps" distributed by Eroica; "Sound in Search of a Past" and the newly released "Roaring Dramas" on opera fantasies, by VdeGallo.

Several prominent composers have written music specifically for the Albek Duo: Italian composer Alessandro Lucchetti's Fantasies on Themes from operas by G. Puccini, P. Mascagni, G. Verdi, G. Rossini, R. Leoncavallo, G. Bizet etc. The well-known American composer William Perry wrote his Gemini Concerto: An Entertainment for Violin, Piano and Orchestra for Ambra and Fiona Albek, who presented the première in May of 2010 and then recorded the piece for the Naxos label with the RTE National Symphony, Dublin, directed by Paul Phillips. The CD has been released in September 2011.
Various concert tours follow: 6 concerts in the eastern part of USA, in Frutillar, Chile and Cordoba, Argentina, 9 concerts in 9 cities within the Republic of China. They are also regularly invited for classical music on Cunard cruises.They are the artistic directors of the Festival "Monday Concerts" at the Boccadoro Hall in Montagnola/Switzerland.
